Description of Duties:

Variety is proud to bring VOLT Hockey to Winnipeg!


Volt Hockey is an adaptive sports program designed to make hockey accessible to individuals with disabilities. Volt is a unique adaptation to the sport of hockey as it allows participants who have more complex needs - particularly those with limited upper mobility, to be able to play the sport that extends beyond other adaptive variations of hockey today. This adaptive sport allows individuals with various mobility challenges to experience the excitement and camaraderie of hockey, fostering inclusivity and providing an avenue for physical activity.


Winnipeg Volt Hockey currently has 5 teams who face-off with each other.


Games take place on:


Sundays at Dakota Community Centre Fieldhouse from 4:00 - 6:00 pm (until April 14th)


or


Wednesdays at Dakota Community Centre Fieldhouse from 6:00 - 8:00 pm (for May and June 2024)


Variety is looking for some volunteers who would like to join our management team!


We are looking for volunteer assistants and assistant coaches who can help us at the sessions/practices/games.


Tasks include:


- Setting up rink boards


- Bringing out the Volt chairs to the children to use


- Assist with timekeeping / score keeping duties


- Assist with referee duties


- Assist with running VOLT Hockey games for kids living with disabilities

Skills Required:

Skills required:


- Good Time Management Skills


- Ability to assist with children who are living with a disability


- Strong interest in participating on a team and supporting a sports league


- Experience coaching or being part of a team is an asset but not required.



   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

- Learn a new sport - VOLT Hockey


- Learn the inner workings of running a sports club


- Learn how to coach a team or enhance your coaching skills

Evening
