Organizational Description: As a family sensitive peer support charitable mental health organization, Peer Connections Manitoba is dedicated to the improvement of quality of life for those living with mental health challenges through education, peer support and advocacy. We offer a number of services in Winnipeg and around the province. Many of our programs are run by people with lived experience or family members who can relate on a personal level to the experiences.

Description of Duties:

Support the workshop facilitator by doing the following:

1. Taking attendance and managing the Zoom waiting room
2. Providing ONGOING technical support to participants
3. Answer questions through Zoom chat from participants
4. Fulfill a specific character role to add to workshop experience
5. Reach out to participants through Zoom chat that have turned off their camera
6. Adjust to the unique needs of the group and support facilitator as needed

This specific workshop is VERY well known and is taken by university/collage students, Nurses, Paramedics, Police and more.

Looking for 2-3 individuals that are passionate about/interested in learning more about Manitoba's mental health field.

   
Skills Required:

- Previous knowledge of hearing voices, schizophrenia & mental health.
- Must be VERY familiar with Zoom and have your OWN laptop.
- Pay close attention to detail
- Able to multi-task & have excellent organizational skills
- Efficient, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision
- Flexible schedule.
- Ability to work with others & are teachable.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

Volunteer experience for related occupations; Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Peer Support Workers, Proctors, Psychologists, etc.

Each workshop in total takes 3 hours, the volunteer is only needed for the first 2. There are 3-5 workshops per month and they take place Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-9pm.
Looking for a minimum of 6 month commitment.
