Description of Duties:

A Visitation Monitor supervises on-site visitations between non-custodial parties and their children. Monitors watch the visit and intervene when necessary. After the visit is over, Monitors factually document the observed interaction.

   
Skills Required:

Must be 18 years of age or older.
35-40 WPM minimum.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in either English or French.
Mature, reliable, responsible.

Development of highly employable and transferable documentation skills.
Hands-on experience for students in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Family Conciliation or Mediation Services.
Highly satisfying experience for individuals interested in helping to keep children and their families connected.

Time Commitment:
Evening
Weekend

Monitors are required to attend 3 evening training sessions. After completing training, volunteers must be available to fill 3 shifts/month (1 Saturday or Sunday per month is required), for a minimum of 12 months. A shift is 3.5 hours in length, and may be scheduled on a weeknight or during the day on weekends. The Volunteer schedule is set well in advance of each month.
