| Description of Duties: | Access to Therapy is seeking a Board Member responsible for the Events Portfolio. This role oversees and supports the work of the Manitoba and provincial event committees, ensuring that event activities, progress, and needs are communicated clearly at the board level. The Board Member for Events acts as the link between the committees and the organization's leadership, helping the committees function smoothly and ensuring their work aligns with Access to Therapy's mission of providing free mental health support to low-income individuals. The Board Member attends all board meetings, which occur three times per year and last approximately one to two hours. During these meetings, they report on committee activities, upcoming events, challenges, successes, and any updates that require board attention or approval. Outside of board meetings, the Board Member spends additional time as needed supporting the committee chairs, helping them stay engaged, offering guidance on planning and processes, and providing assistance when requested. They may join committee meetings, support sponsor outreach strategies, help solve logistical issues, and ensure the committees have what they need to run successful year-round events. This is a governance role that also includes a hands-on support component. The Board Member for Events should feel comfortable participating in planning discussions, offering leadership when appropriate, and maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with committee volunteers. |
| Skills Required: | Experience or interest in event planning, non-profit governance, community fundraising, or volunteer coordination is helpful. Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to understand and summarize ongoing committee activities are important. Board experience is an asset but not required. A collaborative attitude and comfort engaging with volunteers and committee chairs is essential. |
