Description of Duties:

Access to Therapy is creating a year-round Manitoba Events Committee to plan and deliver community fundraising events that support free counselling for low-income Manitobans. This committee works all year, with events in every season and planning happening continuously.


We are looking for a Founding Chair with prior experience in event planning, volunteer leadership, project coordination, or community organizing. This person will help build the committee from the ground up and guide a large, open group of volunteers. Meetings are held online by Zoom, and there is no limit on how many volunteers can join.


Duties include:



  • Leading monthly Zoom meetings (more often during event months)

  • Helping volunteers turn ideas into realistic event plans

  • Managing multiple planning timelines across different seasons

  • Creating simple systems for communication and follow-up

  • Supporting volunteers as they take on event roles

  • Keeping discussions focused and maintaining committee momentum

  • Providing monthly updates to Access to Therapy leadership

  • Helping build a year-round Manitoba events calendar

  • Encouraging the committee to become increasingly self-sufficient

   
Skills Required:

  • Prior experience in event planning, community organizing, volunteer coordination, non-profit work, or project management

  • Comfortable leading Zoom meetings

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to guide large groups and keep meetings productive

  • Ability to manage overlapping timelines

  • Reliable, self-directed, and positive in leadership style

  • Experience with sponsor outreach or budgeting

  • Familiarity with Manitoba community spaces

  • Experience with Google Docs or shared calendars

This role requires approximately 3 to 5 hours per month. Meetings are held online by Zoom, usually during evenings. Additional planning or communication may be required during months when events are approaching. The schedule is flexible, and most tasks can be completed remotely at times that work best for the volunteer.
