Organizational Description: The new Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is a world-class facility filled with 29 aircraft, interactive experiences and inspirational storytelling. Our goal is to engage visitors with stories of Canada's aviation and aerospace heritage while providing an environment to inspire future generations of aviators and innovators.

Our volunteer program offers opportunities to share your talents, build relationships and continue learning. Experience in aviation is not required as we provide training to our volunteers.

Description of Duties:

This is a perfect role for students ages 13 to 17 years to earn volunteer hours while having fun over Spring Break, March 28 - April 3rd. Participate in the activities during Mini Astronaut Training Week. Volunteer shifts are offered daily, Mornings or Afternoons.



  • Be welcoming to the visitors and engage with them in a friendly way.

  • Participate in the activities such as Moon Roving, Space Rock Exploration, Mission patch Design, Spacecraft engineering, and Sending Satellite Signals.

  • Be a team player in keeping our environment safe for the visitors and also for the artifacts on display.

   
Skills Required:

  • Must attend a 60 minute volunteer information session and a 60 minute orientation on March 14th or March 21st.

  • Good communication skills

  • Enjoy interacting with people of all ages, especially children ages 4 to 12 years.

  • Must be reliable

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

  • Build confidence interacting with a diverse group of people

  • Training can be applied towards Student Ambassador roles and volunteering over the summer - ages 16 to 24 years.


This role is good experience for someone seeking careers working with children and youth.

The expectation is that after completing your orientation, you sign up for at least 2 - three hour shifts over Spring Break.
