Description of Duties:

  1. Prepare and file basic income tax returns for eligible low-income taxpayers in accordance with CRA guidelines, using the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program tax software provided.

  2. Contact the taxpayer for clarification when necessary.

  3. Report any questions or concerns to the Program Coordinator.

  4. Protect the taxpayer's privacy by never using or divulging any information provided by the taxpayer for any purpose other than the preparation of their income tax return.

  5. Ensure completed return and TIS60E form are secured in an appropriate envelope for client pickup.

  6. If there is a transmission problem, the taxpayer can print and mail the return.

  7. Delete all electronic copies of the taxpayer's return, no later than 48 hours after its transmission to and acceptance by the Canada Revenue Agency.

  8. Work in conjunction with the Program Coordinator to carry out the program's mandate, following documented procedures accurately.

  9. Support and understand the mission and purpose of the Winnipeg Kids Foundation.

   
Skills Required:

  1. Must have basic understanding of how to file a tax return.

  2. Must be organized and have excellent customer service skills.

  3. Needs to be patient with clients and children in their presence.

  4. Must have filed an electronic tax return in the past; and experience with E-File, "Auto Fill My Return", and Ufile Tax Software is considered an asset.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

This is a great opportunity for anyone in a Business diploma or a Bachelor of Business Administration degree looking to gain experience.


Current CPA's and retired individuals with experience doing taxes would be welcome!

Flexible hours when completing tax returns on a VFH basis, but must be prepared to use your own Windows 11 laptop with provided software.


In-Person pre-booked clinic appointments occur separately, and can take either 45, 60, or 90 minutes per client/family unit, depending on the circumstances.
