Description of Duties:

Purpose of the Role: Stelle di Calabria is seeking volunteer seamstresses to help create custom circle skirts and accessories (such as aprons and lace underskirts) for cultural performances and community events. These skirts will be made from provided fabric and generic measurements, with decorative notions added to the hem. This is a hands-on opportunity to support Italian heritage and youth arts programming in Winnipeg. Our group performs at Folklorama and has a year-end recital scheduled yearly. Our community currently proudly has over 50 dancers.


Responsibilities:



  • Sew circle skirts using provided fabric and measurements

  • Add decorative notions (ribbons, lace, trim) to skirt hems

  • Collaborate with coordinators to meet costume deadlines

  • Maintain quality and consistency across multiple garments

  • Optionally assist with fittings or alterations if available


Support Provided:



  • All materials supplied (fabric, notions, measurements)

  • Clear instructions and design references

  • Ongoing support from Costume Coordinator

  • Recognition in event programs and social media

  • Invitation to events hosted by the Stelle (Christmas Party, Recital etc).
