Organizational Description: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's (WRHA) Community Health and Corporate Services Volunteer Program provides meaningful public engagement, develops effective partnerships, mobilizes appropriate volunteer and community resources, supports a positive working environment and enhances the WRHA's capacity to support and deliver quality services.

Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate.

Description of Duties:

Purpose: Volunteers in this role ensure seamless coordination and communication among community partners, volunteers, and social services in delivering timely and inclusive food hampers to those in need.


Responsibilities:


May include:



  • Maintain and update the contact spreadsheet for all relevant agencies and partners.

  • Confirm hamper build and disbursement details (date, time, logistics) with the lead agency (e.g., Community Helpers Unite).

  • Coordinate with agency drivers to confirm pick-up times and ensure timely delivery for hamper build volunteers.

  • Engage with community partner agencies (e.g., MB Housing, Community Facilitators, Adult Education Program) to support outreach and collaboration.

  • Communicate with Social Work to ensure all new clients are identified and included in food hamper distribution.

  • Perform telephone duties to support coordination and communication efforts.

  • Communicate with placement supervisor regarding any challenges or issues

  • Escorting clients and leading them through the process.

  • Must respect the policies of the WRHA regarding confidentiality dress code.

Time Commitment:
Daytime

Length of Commitment: Minimum commitment of 3 months is preferred, or longer.


Shifts: 1 biweekly shift on alternating weeks. Scheduling is flexible, with options available on Monday, Thursday, or Friday. Shift times are either 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
