Description of Duties:

The Traffic Control Coordinator is responsible for overseeing traffic management and pedestrian safety during Pride Winnipeg events. This role ensures efficient traffic flow, safe crossings, and adherence to event road closure plans while coordinating with city officials, security teams, and volunteers.


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement traffic control plans for Pride Winnipeg events in coordination with city officials and event managers.

  • Coordinate road closures, detours, and parking restrictions to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

  • Train, and manage traffic control volunteers, ensuring proper coverage throughout the event.

  • Work closely with security teams and emergency responders to facilitate access for emergency vehicles.

  • Set up and maintain traffic signage, barriers, and designated pedestrian areas.

  • Monitor and respond to traffic-related incidents or concerns during the event.

  • Ensure compliance with city regulations and traffic safety standards.

  • Conduct briefings for volunteers and staff on traffic control procedures before the event.

  • Assess and report on traffic management effectiveness and provide recommendations for future improvements.

  • Assist with post-event teardown and ensuring roads are reopened safely and efficiently.

   
Skills Required:

  • Experience in traffic control, logistics, event operations, or a related field.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in fast-paced environments.

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

  • Knowledge of city traffic laws and safety regulations is an asset.

  • First Aid & CPR certification is considered an asset.

  • Traffic control certification is considered an asset.
