Description of Duties:

The Community Zone Coordinator supports the Director of Festival Programming in the planning, execution, and management of the Community Zone at the Pride Winnipeg Festival at the Forks. This role is responsible for engaging and coordinating community-based organizations, ensuring smooth operations and meaningful experiences for all participant


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the recruitment of community-based (non-profit) organizations to showcase their services in the Community Zone at the Pride Festival.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Festival Programming and the Vice President of Advocacy to select eligible organizations from the applicant pool to participate in the Community Zone.

  • Develop and maintain the layout and load-in schedules for the Community Zone, ensuring a seamless experience for all organizations across both festival days.

  • Maintain an up-to-date record of past and current Community Zone participants, including key contact information and relevant details.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with selected community organizations, addressing their needs (e.g., water, electricity, tents) and ensuring they are well-informed of festival policies, such as the Sustainability Policy.



  • Actively engage in committees and special projects as assigned by the Director of Festival Programming.

  • Attend workshops and professional development opportunities related to community engagement and event coordination to continuously improve skills and knowledge.

  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring that time, supplies, and logistics are utilized efficiently to meet department goals and enhance event execution.

   
Skills Required:

  • Proven experience managing small-scale projects, ideally in an event or community-focused setting.

  • Experience working in customer service, community engagement, or with non-profit organizations is an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to handle communications in a professional, timely, and sensitive manner.

  • Capable of managing both electronic and physical records accurately.

  • Strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to collaborate with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Bilingual communication (French and English) is considered a valuable asset.
