Organizational Description: Alzheimer Society of Manitoba helps all Manitobans affected by dementia. What started as a grassroots movement over 35 years ago is now an organization that has developed into the leading resource for families living with the disease.

The Society provides programs and services to enhance the quality of life for those affected. The aim is to bring dignity, inclusion, respect and acceptance into the lives of people with dementia and their care partners.

Currently, there are over 18,400 Manitobans living with dementia. The Society offers: supportive counselling, caregiver and professional education, support groups for people living with dementia and for their care partners, public awareness, the First Link program, Minds in Motion program, research funding and more. The Society is a prominent voice in advocating for change within all levels of government.

Description of Duties:

Volunteer needed! Looking for a meaningful, fun way to get involved? Support us at the Memory Cafe in Selkirk!


Join us for a warm and welcoming social gathering where persons living with dementia and their care partners can enjoy refreshments, table games, and visits from local musicians, authors, artists, and more!

   
Skills Required:

-Basic knowledge about dementia or a willingness to learn


-Patience


-Flexibility


-Good communication and socialization skills

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

As a Memory Cafe volunteer, you will:


-engage socially with participants


-assist with the set-up and clean-up of refreshments, games, chairs, etc.

Time Commitment:
Daytime

When: Bi-weekly on Tuesdays from Set 9, 2025 - Feb 10, 2026


Time: Program runs from 10:00 - 11:30am with a volunteer commitment of 9:30am - 12:00pm
