Organizational Description: Our Mission is 'To act in stewardship for Henteleff Park'. The Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at 1964 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. The volunteer run and non-profit Henteleff Park Foundation is dedicated to caring for the Park through restoration and conservation of its lands, plants, and wildlife; partnership with the community; education about its existing ecology and many layered human and ecological history.

Description of Duties:

The Henteleff Park Foundation [HPF] Board Director - Volunteer Coordinator leads the recruitment, training and encouragement of a strong body of volunteers to support the efforts of the Foundation.


In addition to being a Board member, this valuable position leads the Volunteer Management Committee in a variety of activities. Tasks are shared amongst committee members under the Coordinator's guidance.



  • Develop volunteer job descriptions

  • Recruit and assign volunteers

  • Ensure volunteers receive appropriate training

  • Maintain a database of active volunteers

  • Communicate with volunteers on a regular basis

  • Implement strategies to acknowledge volunteer service

  • Report to the Board on activities

   
Skills Required:

  • Committed to stewardship of Henteleff Park

  • Ability to work independently

  • Leadership experience

  • Good communication, organizational and problem solving skills.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

Excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic board with a strong track record of accomplishing goals. In the past two years the Henteleff Park Foundation has established a Food Forest and will soon open an Arboretum. The Foundation has held annual Community Tree Plantings for the last 20 years.

6 - 8 Board meetings a year.


Volunteer Coordinator responsibilities are busiest from May to September, averaging 2 - 8 hours per week.
