Organizational Description: The St. Andrews Heritage Centre was built between 1852 and 1854 as a home for the minister of St. Andrews-On-The-Red. The building is a "Hudson Bay" style of architecture and was not the average nineteenth century Red River dwelling. It was built to reflect the lifestyle and social position of the "gentlemen" of the Red River and their families. Today it is a Canadian National Historic Site that depicts the history of the people that lived in St. Andrews. The St. Andrews Heritage Centre offers visitor services including picnic seating, gift shop, family activities, and interpreters on site. Free admission.

Volunteer Secretary


The St. Andrews Heritage Centre is a museum located at the St. Andrews Rectory (a Parks
Canada National Historic site) at 374 River Road in St. Andrews. The site and surrounding
areas are where many of the early Red River Settlers located with nearby heritage sites
including St. Andrews Church, Lower Fort Garry, and Captain Kennedy House.
The Secretary position works under the supervision of the executive committee members of the
St. Andrews Heritage Centre, a not-for-profit organization. It is an executive position with signing
authority that is responsible for the correspondence of the committee as a whole.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Attending monthly Heritage Centre Committee meetings either in person or virtually
• Creating meeting invitations, agendas and reports to circulate to committee members
• Taking meeting minutes, drafting, reviewing, and proofing
• Circulating approved meeting minutes and other correspondence to committee members
• Keeping an up-to-date membership list of current members and volunteers
• Working with the executive members to determine committee policies and procedures

• Must enjoy working with all types of people
• Must have excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
• Must have good communication skills

Hours - Approx. 1-2 hrs/wk; hours can vary based on committee need or volunteer availability
Volunteer Duration - 2-year term; terms can be renewed
Location - On site or virtual meetings and computer work from own home
