Description of Duties:

Objective:


Assist Next Generation Program Lead in providing a fun, inclusive, safe, and accessible camp experience for blind and low vision children and youth.


Responsibilities & Tasks:



  • Assist participants to engage in camp activities

  • Help make campers feel welcome and included

  • Supervise children and youth of varying ages and abilities

  • Assist with set up and cleanup of activities

  • Reliable and organized

  • Willingness to learn and work with children with sight loss

  • Orientation, including: About CNIB, About the people we help, About sight loss, and About volunteering at CNIB

Boundaries:



  • Do not discipline campers

  • No transportation of campers

  • Only interaction is in group setting, no one-on-one


Commitment:



  • Minimum 1 full camp session of either Youth or Kids Camp (8:20am-4:30pm)

    • Youth Camp (ages 12-18) July 15, 16, & 17

    • Kids Camp (ages 5-11) August 12 & 13


  • Agree to abide by CNIB's Volunteer Code of Conduct, including policies and procedures concerning confidentiality, conflict of interest, and the prevention of workplace harassment and violence.
