Organizational Description: Ted's Run for Literacy was established in 2010 following the death of Ted Swain on May 3rd, 2009. Ted was a passionate teacher of English at Vincent Massey Collegiate in Winnipeg. He was also a dedicated running coach who nurtured hundreds of novice runners. Ted is remembered fondly by the running community with whom he identified to his last step. To date, Ted's Run for Literacy has raised almost $100,000 to help break the cycle of childhood poverty. Description of Duties:

Be a part of an enthusiastic group of volunteers to assist in keeping participants of Ted's Run for Literacy safe, going in the right direction, and motivated along the course!


There are multiple roles available to be stationed along the course to guide runners along the course, direct car traffic, report any potential accidents or hazards, and cheer on the participants; or hand out water and cheer on participants; or be a bike rover to ride your own bike through the course to check on volunteers, report any hazards, and pick up volunteer vests at the end of the race; or help with the setup and take-down of infrastructure for the race.

Will be required to attend Ted's Run for Literacy on September 28th in Kildonan Park from about 8:30am until 11:00am. You will be responsible for transportation to and from Kildonan Park.
