Description of Duties:

Responsibilities:



  • Individuals will be stationed at key intersections or turns along the route to help guide riders

  • Ensure cyclists stay safe and on the correct path

  • Cheer on and encourage participants

  • Report any route issues or emergencies to event staff

   
Skills Required:

Communication Skills




  • Clear and confident verbal communication to direct participants and interact with the public or emergency services.



  • Ability to give concise directions and relay important updates.



Situational Awareness




  • Stay alert to surroundings, participant behavior, and potential hazards.



  • Monitor for any incidents or emergencies along the route.



Problem-Solving




  • Make quick decisions in unexpected situations (e.g., road obstructions, medical issues).



  • Know when to escalate issues to event organizers or emergency responders.



Reliability and Punctuality




  • Arrive on time and stay at your assigned post for the full duration.



  • Dependability is crucial to maintain route coverage.



Teamwork




  • Coordinate with other marshals, volunteers, and event staff.



  • Maintain communication (via radio or phone, if provided) with the event operations team.



Basic Knowledge of the Route




  • Understand the route layout and key timing for participants.



  • Familiarity with landmarks, road crossings, and pit stops.

Volunteers participate in a dynamic planning process with a team of volunteers while supporting the individuals who live at Riverview and their families. It is a unique opportunity to meet new people while enhancing their personal and professional skills. Training and support from the Foundation are provided every step of the way.
