Organizational Description: Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (RAMWC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the history of aviation in Western and Northern Canada. The museum uses a story-driven approach to showcase its unique collection. We host public events showcasing aircraft, guest speakers, and offer family programming and entertainment. Description of Duties:

Ambassadors welcome and engage with visitors to ensure they have a positive experience during their visit. They spread good will and offer services as needed. Ambassadors can also sign up for roles and activities at our public events. They will receive training on how to promote a safe environment for everyone. They will have opportunities to learn about the exhibits in the galleries, leading to Gallery Interpreter and other roles, if desired.


60-minute information sessions about this role and our volunteer program will be held at the museum on May 24th, June 7th, and June 21st, starting at 10:30 am.


Duties:



  • Greet visitors with a warm and friendly welcome

  • Respond to inquires, as needed

  • Observe and report irregular activities and safety issues to the Supervisor on Duty

  • Assist visitors with attaining a mobility device when needed

  • Be knowledgeable of the museum's events and the location of the exhibits

  • Engage with visitors in the interactive zones and in activities during public events

   
Skills Required:

  • Enjoys interacting with diverse groups

  • A positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, a real people person

  • Strong communication skills and verbally fluent in English to offer guidance to the visitors

  • A problem-solver who can adapt to different situations

  • Able to work independently

  • Willingness to learn, train and develop skills

  • The museum has a high number of children, youth, disabled, and seniors visiting, therefore Ambassadors with have to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

The museum is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. There are 3 shift times for Ambassadors and shifts are about 3.5 hours in length.
