Environmental Advocate

Organization Details
Organization Name: Saving Audio Recycling
Address: Winnipeg MB
Website: https://savingaudiorecycling.ca
Organizational Description: Saving Audio is a completely volunteer run environmental group whose goal is to preserve unwanted or inoperable audio electronics items and keep them in re-use, rather than being recycled.

Items we receive are tested for operation and assessed for viability or parts purposes. The parts components are retained to potentially get other non-working items functional again. Working items are then freely given to locally created and operated non-profits to assist them with continuing in their community social functions.

Any items considered non-repairable are donated to the e-waste program of Equal Opportunities West, an employment agency for the developmentally disabled.

We are looking for driver volunteers who can pick up and drop off small e-waste loads from time to time, perhaps twice a month.

We also require advocates for our organization; individuals who can inform members of the general populace that there is a different e-waste option available to them.

Please visit our website for more information about our group.
Volunteer Opportunity Details
Volunteer Opportunity ID: 5096
Description of Duties:

Our organization is in need of highly vocal advocates.

Saving Audio is a completely volunteer run environmental organization based here in Winnipeg whose goal is to facilitate re-use (rather than recycling) of previously owned and un-wanted consumer electronics by first repairing and then distributing these items to locally created and operated Non-Profit community organizations. This service is performed free of charge.

As a grassroots organization, we are self funded. We rely on word of mouth notoriety and in particular, meet and greet in-person interactions.

Volunteers for this position will be asked to promote the organization through creative means. Promotion simply means telling others about what we do and why they should consider recycling with us.

Volunteers will be provided with the contact information of other Winnipeg organizations which could benefit by partnering with ours.

Social media tools will also be a channel to reach others.
