Organizational Description: | Henteleff Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at 1964 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. The primary goal of the Henteleff Park Foundation is the preservation and enhancement of the unique landscape of the Park by planting indigenous trees and shrubs and removing invasive species of plants. The Foundation also maintains trails and provides both historical and natural history interpretation. The Park is a space where people can experience birds and other wildlife, enjoy the riparian forest, appreciate the history of the land, and participate in park re-naturalization through a variety of volunteer opportunities. |

Volunteer Opportunity Details | |
Description of Duties: | Prairie Pals remove and dispose of invasive weeds from our 1.5 acre prairie restoration. Orientation is provided. |
Skills Required: | A knowledge of gardening and weed identification is essential. Ability to differentiate between weeds and native plants. Ability to follow instructions, kneel or bend to pick weeds, lift and dispose of weeds. |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | This is an excellent opportunity to get fresh air and exercise and contribute to the maintenance of this special environment. |
Age: | 18-30, 31-54, 55+ |
Time Commitment: | Daytime, Evening, Weekend Volunteers work every 7 - 10 days at a time that is convenient to them |
