Description of Duties: | About Us Initiatives for Just Communites (IJC) is a non-profit organization that is committed to restorative justice practices. IJC works to create communities where each person, particularly the stigmatized and vulnerable, has a place to belong. IJC runs four programs: - Circles of Support and Accountability supports individuals in Winnipeg with sexual offense histories who are integrating into the community after incarceration or serving probation or parole. - El'dad supports adults with intellectual disabilities in the Eastman region. El'dad's programs include Residential, Home Share, Supported Cluster, Outreach, Day Program, Drop-In, and an Alternative Justice Program - Open Circle is a prison visitation program that matches trained volunteers with participants. Open Circle provides nonjudgmental support and long-term connection. - Touchstone supports adults with intellectual disabilities in Winnipeg. Touchstone's programs include Outreach, Supported Cluster, Drop-In, and Visions & Voices. Visions & Voices is speakers' bureau comprised of adults with FASD. Skills Required: | - CPA designation and at least 12 years of experience as a CPA. - Strong commitment to IJC's values of All People, Community, Transparency, Advocacy, Restorative Justice, and Compassion. - Prior experience working on a Board or with nonprofits an asset.

Time Commitment: | Evening , Remote Volunteering The Board meets every other month (September, November, January, March, and May), and for an Annual General Meeting in June. Meetings last approximately two hours and take place on weekday evenings. Most meetings take place in Winnipeg, with occasional meetings in Mitchell, Manitoba. IJC reimburses Board members for mileage outside of the city. Some Board meetings may be attended online, as necessary. The Treasurer is also responsible for attending meetings of the Executive Committee and Finance Committee as needed. The Treasurer also commits to attending one day-long Board Retreat with all Directors each year. Appointments to the Board are for a three-year term. |
