Description of Duties: At the Canadian Cancer Society, we offer you a place where you can use your talents to make a difference - a place where you can support cancer patients through their journey. We are the largest health charity in Canada, and we're the only cancer charity in the country that is fighting back against all 200-plus cancers. We are looking for a Wheels of Hope Driver Volunteer to come into our office and join us in the fight!
The Wheels of Hope Transportation program offers rides to treatment for those people who are currently living with cancer. This volunteer role will support the program by safely transporting cancer clients to and from treatment.%u202F

Respond to requests for client rides from the transportation Coordinator

Confirm travel arrangements with client(s) by phone\

Provide client rides with the use of your personal vehicle or a Cancer Society van

Offer minimal assistance to get clients in and out of the vehicle (no lifting of client permitted)

Follow safe driving procedures

Manage billing statements within the database (if using own vehicle)

Provide up-to-date license and insurance information

Become familiar with the programs & services provided by the Society and share these resources as needed

Adhere to all Canadian Cancer Society policies, procedures, standards and guidelines including client confidentiality and our 100% smoke free policy
Skills Required: Comfortable communicating on the phone (and two-way radio for van drivers)

Logistical knowledge of Winnipeg

Previous experience working in customer service, health services or volunteer engagement

Comfortable driving for long periods of time

Comfortable working with individuals experiencing health related stress

Ability to interact with volunteers and staff in a team environment

Ability to respect client confidentiality

Positive attitude

Minimum 6 month commitment 2 days/month More than that is very welcome! Can be as early as a 6am start and as late as a 6pm finish
