Organizational Description: Bookmates is a Manitoba based non-profit charitable organization established in 1984. We promote and support family literacy and inter-generational learning through a variety of activities: we develop family literacy and learning programs; we train people to facilitate programs for families in their communities; we deliver programs for parents and children in partnership with community organizations and we promote awareness of the importance of literacy and learning in the early years.

Description of Duties:

Bookmates' Board members support our work providing family literacy programs and resources through providing organizational governance, acting as ambassadors for the organization and promoting our fund development initiatives.

   
Skills Required:

We are currently seeking Board members with these skill sets:


1. accounting and finance


2. marketing, communications or fundraising

Monthly meetings are held except during the summer, with meeting times decided by the members.


Meetings are generallyheld in person at Bookmates' office at 1661 Portage Avenue.



Other commitments can include committee work.
