Organizational Description: | Bookmates is a Manitoba based non-profit charitable organization established in 1984. We promote and support family literacy and inter-generational learning through a variety of activities: we develop family literacy and learning programs; we train people to facilitate programs for families in their communities; we deliver programs for parents and children in partnership with community organizations and we promote awareness of the importance of literacy and learning in the early years. |

Description of Duties: | Bookmates' Board members support our work providing family literacy programs and resources through providing organizational governance, acting as ambassadors for the organization and promoting our fund development initiatives. |
Skills Required: | We are currently seeking a Board member with accounting or finance skills and experience. |
Skills Gained/Related Careers: | Gain experience in working with a non-profit organization to advance its mission as well as skills in non-profit governance and networking opportunities. |
Age: | 18-30, 31-54, 55+ |
Time Commitment: | Evening Monthly meetings are held except during the summer, with meeting times decided by the members. |
