Volunteer Rides Programs: It's more than just a ride

October 25, 2023
09:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Volunteer rides programs provide essential and often life-enhancing transportation services for older adults. In this webinar, Serena from Transportation Options Network for Seniors (TONS) will provide insights, resources and information on starting a volunteer rides program to support you in addressing transportation as a barrier.

The value in providing volunteer rides programs to your clients is that it offers door to door supports for folks to access the basic necessities of everyday life, while also ensuring there are no barriers to social participation. In addition to removing barriers for your potential clients, volunteer rides programs are a valuable way to utilize your volunteers and to provide new volunteer opportunities for those looking to give back to the community.

In this webinar, participants will learn about volunteer rides programs and how they differ from vehicles for hire and public transit; information on the Vehicles for Hire Act; as well as training resources and videos on safety and risks. The webinar will also discuss resources that are available online to organizations wanting to offer a volunteer rides program.
