Online - Designing Volunteer Training & Orientation

October 08, 2020
09:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Appropriate orientation and training is essential for volunteers to be successful in their role. This workshop is more than creating a checklist of information to include in your training program. You'll learn the key components of a solid training plan including how to evaluate the type of learning that needs to take place and matching it to the best delivery formats such as reading, testing, face-to-face, scenario-based, on-line, video, or on-the-job.

Topics include:

  • Developing an orientation and training plan
  • Identifying the three main learning categories
  • Matching the learning categories with the best-suited training delivery formats

Who should attend:

Those responsible for supervising volunteers. Participants can include Executive Directors, program managers, board members, committee members, volunteer managers, coordinators and anyone who is interested in learning more about this topic.

Technical Requirements:

To participate, you will need a computer/mobile device with internet connection, speakers and microphone. A webcam is preferred but optional.
