About the Opportunity


The StoryBridge Network is seeking dedicated volunteers to help bring the StoryStrong 2026 Conference to life! Whether you want flexible event-day tasks or hands-on professional leadership experience in the non-profit sector, we have a role for you.


Volunteer Opportunities


Tier 1: Event-Day & General Support (2-8 hrs/month)


Flexible, shift-based roles ideal for individuals looking to connect with the community and support event operations.



  • Assisting with event setup, registration, and logistics

  • Supporting participant engagement and hospitality

  • Assisting with local outreach and promotion


Tier 2: Leadership & Specialist Roles (5-20 hrs/month)


Structured roles designed to build professional experience in program delivery, communications, and event management.

Skills Required:

Tier 1 Roles (Event-Day Support)


Key Competencies: Hospitality, Interpersonal Communication & Event Logistics


Commitment: 2-8 hours/month (Shift-based)



  • Customer Service & Hospitality: A warm, approachable demeanour to handle attendee registration, guide venue navigation at locations like the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and RRC Polytech, and assist with guest inquiries.

  • Cross-Cultural Communication: Comfort interacting respectfully with a diverse range of participants, including newcomers, elders, youth, and community leaders.

  • Adaptability & Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate in a dynamic event environment, follow directions from event leads, and support light operational tasks (e.g., room setups, directional signage, supporting bookstore/networkinghubs).

  • Reliability: Strong punctuality and commitment to fulfilling selected event-day shifts.


Tier 2 Roles (Leadership & Specialist Roles)


Key Competencies: Project Coordination, Media/Communications & Community Engagement


Commitment: 5-20 hours/month



  • Event Coordination & Project Management: Demonstrated experience or coursework in non-profit program delivery, logistics tracking, vendor/presenter coordination, or delegating tasks to event-day volunteers.

  • Media & Digital Communications: Familiarity with social media management, basic copywriting, event photography/videography, or digital creation tools like Canva.

  • Program Facilitation Support: Strong organizational skills to manage workshop room schedules, liaise with session facilitators, and ensure smooth transitions during panel discussions and keynotes.

  • Leadership & Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, troubleshoot real-time logistical challenges, and model inclusive, community-centered values.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

Volunteers will gain practical, hands-on experience in large-scale event logistics, cross-cultural participant engagement, non-profit operations, and strategic media management. This opportunity provides valuable portfolio- and resume-building experience for individuals pursuing careers in Event Management, Non-Profit Leadership, Public Relations, Community Development, or Strategic Communications.
