| Description of Duties: | About DASCH: For more than 50 years, DASCH has supported children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities through meaningful residential, vocational, leisure, educational, and skill-building programs in the community. DASCH supports individuals across the lifespan and currently maintains 50 homes, two day programs, and an educational and skill-building program. Our work is grounded in a commitment to building and inspiring a community of inclusion where people with intellectual disabilities are valued, respected, and supported to live to their full potential. DASCH is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to apply to serve on its volunteer Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to contribute your experience, perspective, and leadership to a meaningful not-for-profit organization that supports children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities in Winnipeg. As a member of the DASCH Board, you will help strengthen the organization's governance, support sound decision-making, and contribute to strategies that directly impact the lives of people supported by DASCH. Board members play an important leadership role in maintaining public confidence, supporting the organization's mission, and building positive relationships with families, funders, community partners, and the broader public. Key responsibilities of Board members include: • Provide oversight of DASCH's mission, vision, strategic priorities, and responsible use of resources. • Participate in strategic planning and help set long-term priorities for the organization. • Support strong governance practices, accountability, and organizational sustainability. • Review and uphold policies that guide the organization's strategic direction and governance practices. • Contribute to financial oversight, risk management, and responsible decision-making. • Support the appointment, evaluation, and ongoing success of the DASCH CEO. • Maintain a clear and appropriate boundary between governance oversight and day-to-day organizational management. • Act as an ambassador for DASCH by promoting inclusion, respect, and confidence in the organization's work. |
| Skills Required: | Board members attend approximately 8 monthly in-person meetings and contribute to high-level governance, strategic oversight, organizational stewardship, and accountability. DASCH welcomes applicants with experience in areas such as governance, finance, human resources, law, communications, community development, advocacy, public relations, social services, fundraising, risk management, or lived experience connected to disability, inclusion, and community support. |
