| Organizational Description: | United for Literacy (formally known as Frontier College) is a national literacy organization operating a wide variety of programs in locations across Canada. We recruit and train volunteer tutors who assist children, youth, and adults to acquire essential literacy and numeracy skills. We also partner with community-based organizations to help them establish and deliver literacy programs that meet the specific needs of their communities and participants. As Canada's original literacy organization, United for Literacy has been recruiting dedicated volunteers to work with Canadian children, youth, and adults from coast to coast to coast since 1899. Our programs have helped millions of Canadians improve their literacy skills, and we would love to welcome your involvement in continuing this meaningful work. |

| Description of Duties: | We are currently recruiting volunteers to support our in-person after-school program on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As a volunteer, you will support students in grades 1 to 12 with literacy and numeracy activities. The program is run by one of our literacy interns and supported by volunteers. The Intern will plan all the activities and share them with the volunteers prior to the program. The volunteers will then work with a small group of children to focus on reading, writing, and numeracy. |
