Description of Duties:

Organization's Mandate:


Our Mission is 'To act in stewardship for Henteleff Park'. The Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at the south end of St. Mary's Road in Winnipeg. The volunteer ran and non-profit Henteleff Park Foundation (HPF) is dedicated to caring for the park through restoration of lands, plants and wildlife; partnership with the community; education about its ecology and many layered human and ecological history.


Description of Duties:


The Henteleff Park Foundation seeks a Chair for its Education Committee. This committee helps community members learn about the park through a variety of strategies including our interpretive walk series and social media posts. The Education Committee also fosters relationships with local schools and facilitates use of the park as an outdoor classroom.


The Committee Chair is also a Director on the HPF Board.

Skills Required:


Organizational and communication skills. An interest in Henteleff Park and facilitating learning about the park is essential. Ability to work in a collegial manner and lead a team to set and achieve goals is needed.

Time Commitment:


The Chair attends both committee and board meetings. The Board meets approximately eight times a year, in person or via Zoom. Board attendance includes one annual general meeting (AGM) and one annual planning session. Other duties vary the time commitment according to meeting outcomes, time of year, and the specific activities of the Committee.
