| Organizational Description: | The Nomads Club House is located in Muddy Waters, part of treaty one territory, ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew, and Dakota peoples, and the Homelands of the Red River Metis. It is situated in the Mynarski Ward of Winnipeg, on Mcphillips across the casino. The community we service primarily is North End Winnipeg; however, we do not turn away any child who wants to play football. The Nomads is a non profit minor football club that is 100% volunteer run. Nomads is a part of Manitoba Football Association and started as a 15-year-old bantam team in 1969, it has since expanded to provide football programming to children and youth from 8-18 years of age. Since its inception, the Nomads has provided a place for the Northend community to come together, pass down valuable lessons, and create life-long friendships. To our community, the Nomads are more than a sports team, our club provides a sense of belonging and connection, a safe space, consistency, and positive mentorship. We recognize the barriers many families in our community face, especially financial barriers, and so we strive to make recreational sports accessible to all children and youth despite of their family's income. The Nomads has the lowest club fees in Winnipeg, and we endeavour to keep our rates low to reduce financial barriers to participation and support our children and youth. |
