Description of Duties:

Position title: Volunteer Grant Writer
Organization: Gal Senior Care Foundation
Location: Remote, anywhere in Canada
Time contribution: 15 hours per month


About GSC


The Gal Senior Care Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that provides practical financial-fraud education to seniors and those who care about them. Through seminars, webinars, community outreach, and educational resources, GSC helps seniors recognize scams, protect themselves, and respond to fraud without shame or judgment.


Role overview


GSC is seeking detail-oriented volunteer grant writers to help identify funding opportunities and prepare persuasive grant applications. Volunteers will work with GSC leadership to communicate the organization's mission, programming, community impact, financial needs, and future plans to foundations, corporations, and government funders.


Responsibilities



  • Research appropriate grant and funding opportunities.

  • Review eligibility criteria and application requirements.

  • Draft and revise grand applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting material.

  • Adapt GSC's information to each funder's priorities.

  • Track deadlines, submission requirements, and application progress.

  • Maintain accurate and consistent organizational language.

  • Incorporate feedback from GSC leadership.


Qualifications



  • Strong professional or academic writing ability

  • Excellent research and editing skills

  • Ability to write clearly, persuasively, and accurately

  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines

  • Comfort interpreting basic financial information

  • Grant-writing, nonprofit, communications, research, or proposal-writing experience is an asset but not required
