Organizational Description: Bravestone Centre provides women and their children affected by domestic violence with full-time counselling and support programs while living in the safety of our program. Women and children respectively attend regularly scheduled individual and group therapy and a variety of support programs. Women are assisted with advocacy and access to community resources. Families live on-site in Bravestone Centre furnished suites. The program premises are fully secured, confidential and camera monitored. Families continue their counselling through the Follow-up Program as they integrate back into the community. Bravestone Centre is nationally accredited through Imagine Canada.

Description of Duties:

Bravestone Centre is accepting applications for Board Treasurer. This is a great opportunity for those who hold a professional designation of CPA, have demonstrated leadership skills, and want to be a part of a dynamic team providing excellence in oversight and strategic leadership.


-Monitor organizational finances including the approval of yearly budgets and advising the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis of agency's fiinancial situation.


-In conjunction with the Chairs of fundraising committees, ensuring that funding sources, members, governments, and their agencies recieve timely and accurate financial reports.


-Oversees the independent audit of the agency's accounts.


-Regularly attend and actively particpates in board and committee meetings.


-Provide input in the development, management, and evaluation of policies, strategic plans, and business plans.


-Advocate for anad positively represent Bravesone Centre to the general public.


-Assess and mitigate risks facing the organization.


-Ensure Bravestone Centre's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements


-Paritcapte in fundraising activities and initiatives in a manner commensurates with your ability.

   
Skills Required:

CPA designate is required for this position.


Bravestone is a nationally accredited, non-profit charitable organization in Winnipeg Manitoba that provides women and their children affected by domestic violence with the skills to lead a life free of violence through full-time counselling and support programs while living in the safety of the program. As the first ever second stage program in Manitoba to open its doors in 1986, Bravestone centre, (formerly WISH Inc.) is very proud of its long term services to women and children dealing with the impact of family violence.

-2-3 hours during the evening at monthly board meetings.


Meeting Schedule: Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June by Zoom. A full Board Orientation is held on the first Thursday of September - current and new members are to attend.


-An average of 8 hours/month particpation in board committees that align with your skillset (in this case the Financial and fundraising committees).


-Mandatory attendance at AGM in June each year
