Description of Duties:

We are recruiting for the school immunization campaign and volunteers recruited are anticipated to start in September 2026.*


Our focus is on recruiting volunteers for schools in the following Winnipeg community areas: Downtown, Point Douglas, Inkster, Seven Oaks, River East, Transcona, and St. James.


Location: Takes place in various schools in Winnipeg.


Summary of Duties: Assist with guiding students (typically in grades 6 to 8) through the immunization clinics including assisting with crowd control, monitoring students who look anxious and scared, and monitoring students post immunization.


This is a seasonal volunteer role offered in the Fall and Spring. Volunteers must be available on multiple weekdays (Monday to Friday) during school hours, as shifts are not on a fixed day and vary by school location. Clinics operate from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with most shifts in the morning and fewer in the afternoon. Shifts are typically 3-4 hours long. Fall clinics run from mid-September to November, and Spring clinics run from April to mid-June.

   
Skills Required:

  • Willingness to attend virtual WRHA volunteer orientation and role specific training

  • Previous experience with interacting with children/youth is an asset

  • Ability and comfortable with approaching children/youth in a friendly, supportive manner; comfortable with people from different cultures and backgrounds

  • Physically able to perform tasks, must be able to be on one's feet for up to 3 hours

  • Current (within 6 months) and satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check

A minimum of 4 to 5 shifts per campaign is required during the months that the clinics are taking place and we request that a commitment is made for the entire school year. Recruited volunteers sign up for shifts through the Volunteer scheduling portal.


Clinics take place Monday to Friday during school hours between 8:15am to 3:30pm.
