| Organizational Description: | Project Linus Canada is a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to make and give new, handmade blankets to local children and youth who are in need of comfort, due to trauma caused by serious illness, abuse, grief or a traumatic event. Winnipeg chapter collects new handmade blankets from a number of volunteers and distributes them to our partner organizations who work with children and youth such as Toba Centre, Spence Neighbourhood Association, Ode'min (Birthing Centre) and others. We annually donate over 500 blankets to local children and youth. |

| Description of Duties: | Currently blankets and supplies are donated throughout the year. Whenever we get a lot of blankets, we need to go through them, determine if they are suitable or need any repair, wash them, label them and put them in bags for distribution. We are currently a committee of 2 people doing this. We could use 1-2 more people helping with this. We normally do this on a Monday morning , once a month or every 6 weeks, depending on how many blankets have been received. The summer is a slow period and we often will not do this duing the months school is off. |
