Organizational Description: The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is a not-for-profit (CRA registered Charity) that saves the lives of dogs by leading education in transfusion medicine and making the highest quality blood available to veterinarians, dogs, and their families.

We engage pet owners to volunteer their qualified dogs to participate in whole blood collections. The blood is collected, locally processed, and then made available to veterinarian hospitals and clinics across Canada.

Description of Duties:

Help Save Lives, One Belly Rub at a Time!


The Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist at our canine donor clinics. Our incredible donor dogs help provide life-saving blood products to pets across Canada, and we need caring volunteers to help make each donation experience positive, safe, and rewarding.


What You'll Do



  • Welcome donors and their owners to the clinic

  • Assist with pre-donation screening by asking our donor questionnaire

  • Help provide gentle restraint and comfort to donor dogs during the donation process

  • Offer plenty of treats, belly rubs, praise, and encouragement to our canine heroes

  • Help create a calm, positive experience for both dogs and their owners

  • Assist with general clinic setup and cleanup as needed


No previous veterinary experience is required. Training will be provided.

Skills Required:

Qualifications



  • Must be comfortable around dogs of all sizes and personalities

  • Must be able to lift and assist with handling dogs weighing more than 55 lbs

  • Must be comfortable around needles and medical procedures

  • Must have excellent communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude

  • Must genuinely love dogs and enjoy working with both animals and people
