Description of Duties:

The volunteer will guide and support patients as they choose a wig and headwear.



  • Follow the provided script to assist patients with wigs and head coverings, and explain wig care to the patient.

  • Provide information to patients regarding the services and policies of the Caring Room.

  • Provide information about the Look Good, Feel Better program and other workshops.

  • As needed, assist patients in registering online for the Look Good, Feel Better program.

  • Provide clerical assistance to the coordinator as needed.

  • Keep the room tidy, using cleaning products as instructed.

  • Accept wig returns and donations and keep a record of these.

  • Brush and style wigs as needed.

  • Fill shampoo and conditioner bottles, restock supplies as needed.
   
Skills Required:

  • The volunteer must have a caring attitude and excellent communication skills.

  • The volunteer must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel).

  • The volunteer should be familiar with CancerCare, personally or in a supportive role for someone else.

Daytime

Currently seeking daytime availability, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm
Available for 2-4 hours per week
