Organizational Description: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's (WRHA) Community Health and Corporate Services Volunteer Program provides meaningful public engagement, develops effective partnerships, mobilizes appropriate volunteer and community resources, supports a positive working environment and enhances the WRHA's capacity to support and deliver quality services.

Volunteers are placed in the community, supporting a variety of programs within Public Health, Primary Care and Corporate.

Description of Duties:

Location: Access Fort Garry


Provide supportive assistance to the Home Care and Public Health Admin Team in Access Fort Garry



  1. Projects coordinated by or where the Program/Team Manager is responsible may include:

  2. Assembling blank charts for nursing clients

  3. Assisting with special projects related to files

  4. Assisting with replenishing supplies on shelves

  5. Assisting with putting together harm reduction and homecare supply kits


Note: Volunteers may assist with special projects or duties that support the work of the Program/Team Manager. These duties/special projects must be outside of those considered to be a part of the work of the collective bargaining unit.

Skills Required:

  1. Previous experience and confidence in providing administrative/personal assistant support preferred.

  2. Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

  3. Physically able to perform tasks. This includes but is not limited to the following: manual dexterity, ability to bend down to file materials into cabinets, ability to operate photocopier, strength to carry loads of files/printed materials up to 10lbs and/or push a cart for transporting heavier loads as needed.

  4. Organized, conscientious and able to pay attention to detail.

  5. Able to understand, take direction and express oneself in English in a clear, concise manner.

Time Commitment:
Daytime

Shifts: One 4-hour shift per week, Monday to Friday (between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.). Your shift will stay the same each week.


Length of commitment: Minimum 3 months.
