Description of Duties:

The South Osborne BIZ will see its marvelous flower displays prepared for planting prior to June 7th, 2026. This will assist the BIZ to spruce up the its flower planters in anticipation of this exciting growing season to beautify the South Osborne area.


Flower Display Preparation Date options:


June 5th - Meet at 685 Osborne (Magpie's Café) at 685 Osborne Street. June 5th meet at 1 pm on Friday to receive supplies, equipment and instructions. The focus of the work will be cleaning out garbage and debris from approximately 60 large flower planters along South Osborne sidewalk; (from Jubilee Avenue to Mulvey Avenue, East) The work will take place from 1pm to 4pm that day. Biz will have several trucks on hand to transport debris and soil, etc. Volunteers will be on foot please.


June 6th - Meet at 685 Osborne (Magpie's Café) at 685 Osborne Street. Work will take place on June 6thth from 10 am to 2pm. Volunteers will receive supplies, equipment and instructions. The focus of the work will be adding potting soil to approximately 60 planters along South Osborne sidewalks (from Jubilee Avenue to Mulvey Avenue, East). Four volunteers are needed. We will have several trucks on hand to transport debris and soil, etc. Volunteers will be on foot please.

   
Skills Required:

Phase 1 - June 5th - Able to walk throughout the area and clean garbage and debris from the planters along the sidewalk areas of South Osborne area.


Phase 2 - June 6th - Add additional potting soil to the cleaned planters along the sidewalks of South Osborne area and ensure planters are ready to receive new plants.

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

  • Good organization skills to ensure all items have been cleaned and are ready for planting.

  • Ability to follow instructions provided by the leaders.

  • Ensure work is done in a clean and/safe manner.
