Description of Duties:

Support the Sports Program Coordinator in teaching children the basics of baseball, including engaging kids during programming, including drills and baseball exercises.


At all times serve as a positive role model for youth promoting teamwork, community-building and personal/social skill development, in addition to baseball specific development.

   
Skills Required:

  • Current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Checks (if not current, SNA will pay for one)

  • Enthusiastic, welcoming, respectful with a positive attitude

  • Experience working with children/youth or experience coaching sports teams is an asset but not required

  • Knowledge and/or experience working with marginalized populations is an asset

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with diverse, at-risk youth. Volunteers who demonstrate dedication, reliability and leadership skills may, upon request, receive character references from the Program Coordinator for commitments lasting longer than one month. Volunteers will also have access to scheduled training opportunities.

Daytime

4-5:30pm, preferably once a week, ASAP to end of September, in Winnipeg's West End. Learning done outside but with no actual baseball diamond.
