Description of Duties:

The Treasurer provides financial oversight and supports the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities. The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director and Bookkeeper, who manage day-to-day financial operations.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Reviews monthly financial statements.

  • Provides financial oversight and monitors internal controls.

  • Assists in reviewing the annual budget prepared by staff.

  • Supports financial reporting to the Board.

  • Ensures financial policies and by-laws are followed.

  • Assists with financial information for the annual report.

  • Is designated as a financial signing authority

  • Orients and supports the incoming Treasurer.

   
Skills Required:

  • Understanding of financial accountability in a non-profit context

  • Ability to help develop and monitor a budget

  • Comfort reporting financial information clearly to the board

  • Awareness of internal controls

This role offers an opportunity to build and strengthen skills in financial oversight, governance, and strategic decision-making, while gaining valuable experience supporting a non-profit organization and contributing to the sustainability of the library sector.
