Organizational Description: Sport Manitoba is the leading planning, programming, and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba. Our goal is simple: we aim to ensure every Manitoban has access to the resources they need to achieve their full athletic potential, and we do this every day by developing the skill sets of Manitoba's athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials. The Province of Manitoba supports and enables us to achieve this vision.

Sport Manitoba is a non-profit organization. Revenue generated is reinvested into amateur sport and community programs across the province.

We partner with over 100 organizations to deliver sport in the province and are responsible for programs including the Manitoba Games powered by Manitoba Hydro, Sport Manitoba Coaching, Team Manitoba, Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, Fit Kids Healthy Kids, and KidSport. Services provided include the Sport Manitoba Clinic, Sport Manitoba Performance, Sport Manitoba Fitness Centre, and the Paul Robson Resource Centre for Leadership and Coaching.

Description of Duties:

As part of the Mission Staff for Team Manitoba, you provide operational support to Provincial Sport Organizations, coaches, managers and athletes to ensure preparations are in place for peak performances and a successful 2027 Canada Winter Games. This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to Manitoba's sport delivery system.


Mission Staff members play a key role in shaping participants' experience at the Canada Games. In this role, you will:



  • Build positive, trusting relationships with assigned sports and Provincial Sport Organizations, becoming a key point of connection and support.

  • Navigate Games logistics and operations, helping your teams stay informed, prepared, and confident leading into Games.

  • Develop a working understanding of your assigned sports, including their technical packages and competition standards.

  • Apply Games policies and procedures to maintain an athlete-focused environment.

  • Collaborate with assigned sports to meet key deadlines.

  • Lead and facilitate a parent information session, helping families feel informed and supported.

  • Other responsibilities, as assigned by interests, skills, and the evolving needs of the team.

Skills Required:

Mission staff volunteers are dependable, resourceful, and ready to step into a role that operates as an extension of Team Manitoba staff. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:



  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment for extended periods of time.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate with Provincial Sport Organizations, coaches, athletes, and fellow volunteers.

  • Clear, effective communication while managing competing priorities or resolving issues.

  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and multitasking skills.


Additionally, the following are considered assets:



  • Knowledge of the provincial amateur sport system, Canada Games, or other multi-sport environments

  • Previous volunteer experience in sport

  • Ability to communicate in both official languages

  • A valid driver's license

  • Experience with social media, photography or videography

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

In this role, you can develop new skills, meet new friends, and experience the behind-the-scenes work a team puts into attending a multi-sport Games. You'll travel, work with experts in sport, and support Manitoba's next generation of champions.

Pre-Games meetings are usually held on weeknights. Practices and/or tournaments and team events depend on the sport you are assigned but can vary between weeknights and weekends. The 2027 Canada Games are February 27 - March 14, 2027 in Quebec City.
