Organizational Description: 1JustCity is an organization that supports three drop-in community centres in Winnipeg's core neighbourhoods: West Broadway, Osborne Village, and Central. Our services include daily meals, art, senior's programs, sharing circles, haircuts, showers, laundry, toiletries, and clean undergarments. In the winter months we also run the pop up warming centre in Osborne Village: Just a Warm Sleep.

Description of Duties:

The Graphics Coordinator is responsible for the design and production of sponsorship promotional materials, posters, handbills, social media graphics, ticket insert, sponsorship recognition signs, event signage, volunteer badges, ballots and production of a video celebrating each tour.


The Graphics Coordinator works in consultation with the Sponsorship Team, Promotion Coordinator, Ticket producers, Tour photographer(s) and 1 JustCity Communication staff.


The URGT has branding (font and graphics) and templates for the promotional materials. Generally the work involves adapting and revising these materials unless a decision is made to create a new look.


January - Prepare an early version of the event poster as required. Revise Sponsorship promotional materials.
April - Consult with Sponsorship Team to ensure all the logos required for the artwork are available. Prepare posters, handbills, social media graphics and ticket insert. Consult with others for accuracy of all materials. Arrange for printing of posters and handbills and distribute electronic versions along with social media graphics.
May/June - Ensure posters are available for the Promotions Coordinator to distribute. Prepare sponsorship recognition signs (Garden Signs and Major Sponsor signs) and event signage (for tea tables, bake table etc. and as needed for the particular venue) and arrange for printing. Consult with other Committee members about additional printing needs, such as draw ballots and volunteer badges.
June - Ensure all signage is ready in advance of the Tour and ensure all signage is on site on Tour Day. Ensure all the signage is collected and returned to storage for the next year.
Prepare a report for the debriefing meeting of the Coordinating Committee with recommendations for changes.
July/August - Work with volunteer event photographers to ensure photos are received. Distribute photos to Coordinating Committee members as needed, for example, for Sponsorship thank yous.
Prepare a short video (images with a soundtrack) highlighting and celebrating the Tour for release in August/September, working with others on the Committee and 1JustCity staff as needed.

   
Skills Required:

  • Familiarity with computer graphic software. Sufficient skill with graphic software to adapt pre-existing templates.

  • Sufficient skill with slideshow/video software to create a short video. Ability to work independently.

  • Willingness to initiate consultation with others and be responsive to requests for consultation.

  • Strong ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must have access to a computer as well as graphic design software and video production software which meets 1JustCity's specifications.

Contribute to services for some of the most vulnerable people in the city, experience camaraderie working with a dedicated team of volunteers, and hone design skills.

  • The majority of time is spent in April/May and July/August. Work is done from home.

  • In addition attend six - 90 minute (mostly via Zoom) Garden Tour Coordinating Committee planning meetings and report on progress.
