Organizational Description: Our Mission is 'To act in stewardship for Henteleff Park'. The Park is 50 acres of natural beauty located at 1964 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg. The volunteer run and non-profit Henteleff Park Foundation is dedicated to caring for the Park through restoration and conservation of its lands, plants, and wildlife; partnership with the community; education about its existing ecology and many layered human and ecological history.

Description of Duties:

The Communications Chair leads the committee in presenting the public face of the Henteleff Park Foundation. This is achieved mainly through social media, the organization's website and newsletter that is produced approximately four times a year. The Communications Committee also uses community and mainstream media and promotes Foundation events such as our annual community tree planting. Tasks are shared amongst committee members with leadership and input from the Chair.


The Committee Chair is also a Director on the Henteleff Park Foundation Board.

   
Skills Required:

Excellent organizational and communication skills. Some experience in public relations and event planning is ideal, good writing skills, and design sense are assets, as is familiarity with social media and Microsoft programs including Outlook and Word. Ability to work in a collegial manner.

Time Commitment:
Flexible Hours

Time commitment varies with time of year, meeting outcomes and Committee activities. The Chair attends both committee and board meetings. The Communication Committee meets regularly at the call of the Chair, mainly by Zoom. The Board meets monthly in the spring and fall, usually by Zoom. Board meetings are approximately one hour long. Board attendance includes one annual general meeting and one annual planning session.
