Camp Medical Team - Nurse Volunteer (Manitoba)
Position Overview As a member of our Camp Medical Team at Camp Limitless in Manitoba, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where children with juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases can thrive. Serving as a Camp Nurse, you will provide expert medical care, monitor campers' health, and support the broader healthcare and camp team. Your presence will bring peace of mind to campers, their families, and staff, helping children embrace new experiences, make lasting memories, and build meaningful connections in a vibrant and joyful setting.

Camp Details
Time Commitment
Five-night commitment at camp, with nurses being "on-call" during camp hours and remaining onsite throughout the camp week.
Mandatory pre-camp training (virtual and/or onsite).
Assist with camper registration and support camp bus supervision as needed.
Key Areas of Responsibility - Camp Nurse
Oversee campers' health care, including administering medications, treating minor ailments (colds, homesickness, minor injuries), and responding to emergencies.
Monitor camper health and address concerns, communicating with parents as necessary.
Remain "on-call" during camp hours, including some overnight shifts, and be onsite for the duration of camp.
Maintain professional boundaries and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers.
Report health concerns to parents during camper pick-up at the end of camp.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes - Camp Nurse
Active nursing license in Manitoba.
Valid CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification.
Satisfactory completion of a vulnerable sector check.
Proof of professional liability insurance (Arthritis Society Canada provides additional coverage for volunteer medical staff).
Experience working with children, preferably with chronic illnesses or juvenile arthritis.
Strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills.

- Licensed nurse in Manitoba with CPR-C and Standard First Aid.
- Experience caring for children, ideally with chronic illnesses or juvenile arthritis.

- Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in emergencies.

- Pre-Camp Training: Mandatory virtual and/or onsite orientation to review policies, emergency procedures, camper files, and medical protocols.
- Additional Duties: Assistance with camper registration, supporting camp bus supervision, and collaborating with the camp team as needed.
- Post-Camp: Participation in a debrief session (in-person or virtual) and completion of an online evaluation survey.
