Description of Duties:



The Finish Line Judge is responsible for determining the order in which skaters cross the finish line during races. As skaters often finish very closely together, this role requires strong focus and quick, accurate observation. In events using electronic timing systems, the Finish Line Judge's results serve as an important backup to ensure fair and accurate race outcomes.


Duties include:



  • Observing skaters as they cross the finish line

  • Accurately identifying finishing order for each race

  • Recording or reporting results to the chief official

  • Maintaining full attention during fast-paced finishes

  • Working with a small team of volunteers (4 assisting one official)

  • Supporting fair and organized competition

   
Skills Required:



  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail

  • Ability to make quick, accurate judgments

  • Strong reliability and punctuality

  • Clear communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm in high-energy environments

  • Willingness to learn basic race procedures


(No prior judging experience required - training will be provided.)
