Organizational Description: The mandate of the College of Paramedics of Manitoba is to regulate the profession of Paramedicine in the Province of Manitoba, through protection of the public interest. We do this by fulfilling the legislated mandate and authority granted to the College, as part of the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Description of Duties:

Finance Audit and Risk Committee (FAR)


For financial reporting, setting of internal controls, and makes the recommendation of an auditor to Council to assess the financial condition of the organization on an annual basis. These functions ensure the organization operates in a financially prudent manner with (i) appropriate controls and checks and balances to safeguard assets and (ii) processes to identify and mitigate financial risks.


FAR committee is chaired by the Treasurer of the Council of the College of Paramedics of Manitoba. The committee consists of 2 paramedic members of Council; 2 public members of Council; one non-Council paramedic member; and one non-Council public representative.


Honorariums and expenses are provided for in keeping with the College policies.

Serving on FAR may be a good fit for you if you are:



  • Able to carry out the role in a manner that serves the public interest above all else

  • Have flexibility in your schedule to attend evening meetings. Meetings are held quarterly for 2 hours. Regular meeting attendance is required.

  • Are a critical thinker; have time to devote to thoroughly read all meeting packages and able to engage in dialogue with committee members in reaching decisions

  • Have good internet connectivity and comfortable meeting over a virtual platform

  • Have an interest in the role of the College as the regulatory body for the profession of paramedicine

  • Have an interest in the financial integrity and business aspects of the College

  • Able to serve for a minimum of three years

FAR holds regular quarterly meetings with an additional 1-2 meetings per year. Meetings are typically held from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. during the week. Meetings are held virtually via MS Teams.


Honorariums are paid to committee members for meeting attendance.
