About us:


Whisker Warriors Manitoba is a foster-based rescue dedicated to supporting, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats and kittens in need across Manitoba. Our rescue operates without a shelter building - which means foster homes are essential to saving lives.


Position Overview


We are seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers to provide temporary foster care for cats and/or kittens. Foster Care Providers offer a safe, stable, and loving environment while the rescue team coordinates vet care, supplies, and adoption placement.

   
Skills Required:

Key Responsibilities


Provide a safe indoor environment for the animal(s)


Offer daily care: feeding, fresh water, litter maintenance, comfort, and socialization


Monitor behavior and health; communicate updates to the foster coordinator


Transport to occasional veterinary appointments (if able - otherwise transportation assistance may be arranged)


Participate in adoption discussions by sharing observations about the animal's personality and needs. Take photos and videos of their foster cat or kitten to help promote their adoption into a loving home.

This role offers meaningful personal and professional experience, including:


- Experience in animal care, rehabilitation, and behavioral observation

We Provide



  • Professional reference letter upon successful foster completion

  • All supplies: food, litter, bowls, carrier, blankets/toys

  • All veterinary care: exams, vaccines, spay/neuter, medications

  • Full support: ongoing foster mentorship, 24/7 assistance, clear communication and guidance

  • No out-of-pocket cost to the volunteer

  • Training in special cases such as bottle feeding, medication administration and medical case care if so desired

Weekend

Ideally, fosters agree to care for their foster cat/s or kittens until adoption


Fosters are matched based on your availability:



  • Temporary (1-2 weeks)

  • Standard foster term (5-10 weeks) (Ideally foster until adoption)

  • Long-term or special care available for those interested
