Organizational Description: Mosaic - Newcomer Family Resource Network is a non-profit organization that provides immigrant parents and primary caregivers the opportunity to develop additional language skills and build the confidence and independence needed to participate actively in community life, while providing their pre-school aged children with quality care. Mosaic offers several ESL classes with on-site childcare in various Winnipeg neighbourhoods. In addition, Mosaic offers parenting programs facilitated by trained and mentored newcomers, in several Winnipeg community locations.

Description of Duties:

As a childcare volunteer you will be following the direction of the childcare lead and daily routines of the play room you are assigned to. Some of your duties may include: reading to children, assisting in cleaning up, helping at snack times, playing with the children and helping to clean up or set up during your shift.

   
Skills Required:

Must enjoy working with young children (ages 6mths- 5yrs)


Flexibility, patience and understanding of children's needs


Must have an English speaking level of CLB 4 or higher

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

People who are interested in a career in childcare or education are encouraged to volunteer. You will gain hands on experience.


Our organization is a newcomer organization and by volunteering with us you will gain experience working with newcomers to Canada and build on your community experience.

Child care is offered for students in our English language classes.


Our classes run from Monday-Thursday during the times of 9:00 am- 3:15pm.
