Description of Duties:

Shipper for the volunteer Board that produces the annual publication "The Prairie Garden." Sales of the books (current and back issues) are approximately 2000 books per year, originating from an average of 850 sales invoices and related shipments. The Shipper is a volunteer role, responsible for overseeing the receipt and dispatch of books, managing orders received from customers (arising from the organization's website and from larger orders communicated by the Sales Board), ensuring timely delivery, and implementing shipping processes: including packaging, labeling and scheduling delivery. This role is crucial for maintaining the organization's supply chain and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Some experience with shipping and receiving

  • A valid Driver's License

  • Needs to be very organized.

  • Needs to be able to work independently or cooperatively in a group setting

   
Skills Gained/Related Careers:

  • Invoices are sent by the TPG Treasurer for book requests.

  • Shipper/Receiver works from their home base. Local orders in the Winnipeg area are delivered personally whenever and wherever possible by Shipper/Receiver. Those that are not delivered personally are sent out by Canada Post. All orders outside the Winnipeg area and within Canada are also sent out by Canada Post. Orders from our customers in the USA are handled with the assistance of a local broker called Runnin' Red Transport Inc. Note that November to January is the busiest time of the year for the Shipper/Receiver.

  • Inform the Treasurer and Webmaster of new costs associated with shipping.

  • Keep records (including receipts) of all costs associated with shipping.

  • Assist the Treasurer with book inventory at year end in September (fiscal year end).

  • Order envelopes, stamps, tape, boxes etc.
