Description of Duties:


Do you want to make a difference? The Canadian Red Cross Society (CRC), a non-profit, organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is currently seeking volunteers for some amazing programs right here in Manitoba


Smart Start (Newcomer training) and the Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate Change Adaptation team are looking for:


*People to facilitate sessions that are 1-3 hours in length 1-3 times a month (in-person, occasionally virtual)


*Facilitate to English as an additional language audience


*Passion for climate change adaptation, emergency preparedness and risk reduction


*Willingness to work in diverse cultural settings * Able to communicate effectively to a group.


*Teamwork and collaboration. *Packing/ Printing training materials


Emergency Responder Team - Large scale disasters (commonly spring, summer, fall)


Volunteers are ready to be called for upcoming responses such as floods & fires in Manitoba or larger disasters.


Personal Disaster Assistance Team - (24 hrs a day, 365 days per year) ongoing


Responders are scheduled based on volunteer availability. As a volunteer you would be able to respond to house fires in Manitoba.


***All volunteers must complete the Canadian Red Cross online training and background checks as part of your onboarding as well as additional training needed for each specific volunteer team.

Skills Required:

Ability to carry training equipment and stand for presentations (props/laptop).


Use of own vehicle or transit for transportation to/from sessions


Experience in public speaking, facilitating workshops, and/or instructing, especially in an EAL format or setting is beneficial.


Cultural awareness and sensitivity are required.


Experience working with diverse populations is an asset.

Customer Service Skills - dedicated to supporting those affected by emergencies

Facilitator Volunteers:

Emergency Responder & Personal Disaster volunteer requirements differ depending on need and availability of volunteers. Could be daytime, evening, weekends.
